As our staff have personally experienced the anxiety and hardships as previous international students themselves, we can provide relatable advice.

Yuki Matoba

Ski Instructor & Ski Guide
Yuki has lived in Canada for 8 years. He joined CSBA (Canadian Sports Business Academy) in 2016 and obtained his CSIA Level 3 ski instructor certification in 2017. Currently, he is working towards achieving the highest level, Level 4, and teaches skiing at both Whistler Snow School and CSBA. Besides skiing, Yuki enjoys golf and various outdoor sports. His guest services, enhanced by his skiing experience, are highly popular.

Shiro Nakajima

Director of CSBA (Canadian Sports Business Academy)
Shiro has been living in Canada for 40 years. He holds the highest level of ski instructor certification (Level 4) and is a PGA Canada Class A Professional in golf. Shiro has extensive experience as a ski guide in Europe, Oceania, and North America, earning great trust from his clients. In 1999, he served as a caddie for Shigeki Maruyama, who finished 6th in the PGA NEC World Series. He has also supported tour professionals in major tournaments, including the Masters. Shiro is known for his technical instruction that minimizes physical strain and provides guidance tailored to individual levels.

Kazuki has lived in Whistler for 8 years and is a snowboard coach with extensive experience and exceptional skills as a professional snowboarder. He leverages the advanced skills he honed in domestic and international competitions to coach snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to advanced. His personalized coaching methods ensure effective and enjoyable lessons, emphasizing safety and thorough instruction from basics to advanced tricks. Yusuke has lived in Whistler for 20 years. Originally planning a one-year language study, he has been captivated by Whistler's charm. Yusuke is well-versed in how to enjoy Whistler and is highly trusted by his clients. He also has a background as a sushi chef at the Japanese restaurant “Sachi Sushi,” ensuring excellent support for après-ski or post-round relaxation.

Chase, from Newfoundland in Eastern Canada, has 20 years of snowboarding experience. As a professional athlete, he currently coaches at CSBA in Whistler and at Snowboard Addiction, the world's largest how-to website for snowboarding.

Michael has lived in Whistler for 50 years and is a local teacher well-versed in Canadian history. He holds a ski instructor certification and teaches at the ski school in the winter, enjoying a loyal following of repeat clients. In the summer, he enjoys golf and hiking as an active senior. As the father of X Games ski halfpipe gold medalist and Canadian Olympian Simon d’Artois, you might have the chance to meet a gold medalist!

Akiko holds the highest level of ski instructor certification (CSIA Level 4) and works at the ski school during the winter. Her detailed ski instruction and guiding are highly regarded by clients from around the world. In addition to skiing, Akiko is a sommelier in Japan during the summer, effortlessly recommending wines to match her clients' tastes. She is a multi-talented guide popular with all age groups.

Eigo has over 20 years of experience as a professional snowboarder and is a graduate of the CSBA Snowboard Athlete Program. After his professional career in Japan, he moved to Canada in 2012. Eigo provides clear and level-appropriate snowboard instruction to a wide age range, from children to adults. He is also a photographer, helping to capture precious memories in Canada.
